Compostable Tableware Now A Reality

It has to be said that we live in a rather wasteful society. An incredible amount of landfill that is not able to be processed is produced every day in Europe and America, with over 30million pieces of tableware being disposed of every 24hours. It is likely that there will always be a demand for tableware as society is not going to change over night, but we may not have much to eat off of them if we continue to mistreat nature? Well one company in Richmond may now have the answer.

They have developed a complete range of biodegradable and compostable tableware that can be used in exactly the same way as ordinary products. The can be rinsed out easily and do not harbour bacteria. However, when you come to throw them away, they can be placed in composters or buried and will break down naturally over time.

Awards have already been given to the relatively new company, who have also received praise from green charities and their regional council. Their latest award came from a company that helps new, ethically motivated businesses find their feet. The company is called New Visions and run not-for-profit.

$1,500 was the fund awarded to the company, which they plan to put towards further development work. plates, bowls and serving spoons are some of the 15 pieces currency in the range. They are looking into making more utensils such a bottle opener and more detailed pieces like designer cheese knives

The company owner, Jocelyn Tice has spoken of her vision of making her alternative tableware available in outlet all over the world. "the benefits are simply limitless" she claimed. We will help save the world by not having to constantly find new places to dump these items, but everyone's finances will benefit also.

Additional to her newest tableware concepts, Jocelyn is now researching products from various industry sectors with the hope of applying the technology there also.  She has also been approached by a number of larger companies who are interested in incorporating her products into their own table and glassware
