The national dish is Ackee and saltfish, a meal of ackee, which is a local fruit and dried codfish with tomatoes and onions.

Lebanese cuisine is part of this tradition and has gained an international reputation for tasty dishes, made with fresh produce. Restaurants serving food from the Lebanon have sprung up all over the world. Meals most often contain vegetables, fruit, fish or seafood. Meat is eaten but to a lesser extent, cuts are lean and red meat does not appear that often.
